Suji Ka Cheela tastes better with curd, vegetables, and semolina than it does with gram flour or dal. It is a healthy and simple dish that can be made in a matter of minutes.
This is a quick and easy breakfast option for a busy morning.
Ingredients
- 1 cup suji
- 1/2 cup curd
- 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
- 1 tbsp capsicum finely chopped
- 1 tbsp carrot grated
- 1 green chillies finely chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- Oil as required for roasting cheela
- 2 tbsp water or as required
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING BATTER
- Take suji or rava in a bowl.
- Add curd in it and mix it well.
- Thereafter, please add salt, red chilli powder, and ginger paste.
- Add 1/4 cup water.
- Mix it thoroughly.
- Cover it and allow the batter to rest for 15-20 minutes or till suji swells completely.
- Then after 15-20 minutes, suji will absorb the water and will become too soft.
- Now stir in the chopped vegetables, which include onions, capsicum, green chilies, coriander leaves, and grated carrot.
- Again mix it well and then add 1/4 cup water.
- Now, add 2 tbsp water again in it.
- Mix it again thoroughly, adding water as needed to achieve a slightly medium thick flowing consistency batter.
- The batter for making cheelas is now ready.
Making Suji Cheela
1. Preheat a nonstick pan or tawa. Drizzle some oil over the tawa and evenly distribute it with a spoon.
2. Reduce the heat to low and use a ladle to gently spread the batter on the pan to make small to medium chillas.
3. Simply spread it in a circular motion, keeping it a little thick. Spreading too much will cause the chillas to break.
4. Cook for 2-3 minutes on a low to medium heat.
5 .When the top of the suji cheela appears to be cooked, drizzle some oil on the sides. Spread the oil all over with the spoon.
6. When the cheela turns brown from underneath, flip it over.
7. Allow it to roast on the other side as well until it is done.
8. Remove the suji cheela and stack it on a plate or casserole when the second side turns light golden.
9. Serve suji ka cheela hot or warm with any chutney or sauce of your choice.
